Ride on mowers are obviously very effective grass cutters as this is their main purpose. Any good quality mower will be supplied ready to use and should be able to help save you some valuable time immediately. Although not needed to cut grass effectively, there are a number of ride on mower accessories that can be purchased. These items can help you get the most out of your mower and also equip it to perform tasks other than grass cutting.

We will now take a look at some of the ride on mower parts that are available.

The Ride on Mower Trailer

One of the most popular accessories for garden mowing machines is the ride on mower trailer. These can be purchased relatively cheaply and will allow your mower to be used for a variety of new tasks. Many trailers will be able to convert between wheel barrow like devices which can be pushed by a person, to trailers to be pulled by your mower. This will allow you to make the most of your ride on mower and use it to transport materials such as sand, gravel, patio slabs and other patio flooring options around your large garden. These low priced accessories allow you to get a whole lot of extra value from your machine with only a small investment.

Ride on Mower Dozer Blades

These can be attached to the front of your mower allowing it to be used to push snow, gravel or earth around. This can save you a great deal of time and effort as you will not need to move these heavy materials manually. Snow chains can also be purchased for extra grip when shifting snow or working in icy conditions.

Towed Sprayers

A towed sprayer can be an easy and efficient way to spray water or any liquid around your garden. It will allow you to avoid the work involved with using watering cans to water large gardens, while at the same time avoiding any hose pip bans.

Aerators and Dethatchers

Use an aerator to penetrate into your lawn in evenly spaced holes. All you need to do is ride around on your mower with the attachment being pulled behind you. Similarly, to remove any moss or dead grass, just attach a dethatcher to the rear of your mower. Some devices are also equippmed to rake leaves from a lawn, doing the job of a commercial leaf blower.

Towed Spreaders

Spreaders can easily be attached to a ride on mower, allowing you to distribute fertilizer, grass seed or granules easily and evenly over your lawn. A large area can be covered quickly with minimal effort required by the operator. Even distribution will also be automatic.

Towed Rollers

Attach a towed roller to your ride on mower to provide an easy solution to dealing with mole hills, uneven ground or newly laid grassed areas that need to be compacted. Fill these attachments with sand or water for added weight.

Ride on Mower Parts

All leading brands will make parts for their ride on mowers easily available. For example, you may need a new ride on mower engine or battery during a repair. For these kinds of items you will want to contact the manufacturer or the supplier who sold you the machine initially. They may also offer ride on service plans, so you will not need to carry out any repairs or track down parts yourself.

The Yardman ride on mower range from MTD is comprised of two differed types of machines. These are the Zero-turn ride on mowers and the ride on tractor mowers. We will take a closer look at this range and the individual machines themselves. In future articles the current selection of replacement MTD ride on mower parts will also be discussed.

Yardman MTD Ride on Mowers – Zero-Turn Riders

The first model is the 42” Yardman Select. This MTD ride on mower is designed to be used on lawns which are up to two acres in size. It can deal with difficult to navigate areas with many obstacles. The cutting deck is 42” in size and is mounted on a pivoting front axle. This allows the operator to carefully cut around curved areas and also to follow the natural ground contours. This mower is fitted with a powerful Briggs & Stratton 21hp engine and dual hydrostatic transmission. A three gallon fuel tank ensures you can mow for hours on end. For safety and comfort, a high back seat comes as standard.

The remaining Yardman ride on mower in the Zero-Turn Riders range is the larger 50” model. This mower is ideal for use in lawns up to three acres. A 50” triple blade cutting deck gives great results and can save you a lot of time. A 22hp Kohler Courage V-Twin OHV engine is fitted in these mowers which should make light work of large open spaces. Zero-Turn manoeuvrability provides a very tight turning circle for precise mowing. This machine also has a three gallon fuel tank and dual hydrostatic transmission.

Yardman MTD Ride on Mowers – Lawn Tractors

All of these lawn tractors come with optional mulch kits, 1.5 gallon fuel tanks and 2 year limited warranties.

The Yardman MTD ride on lawn mowers in the lawn tractor range begin with the 12.5hp/38” tractor. The engine is produced by Briggs & Stratton so you know it will be of the highest quality. This mower has six gears which can be shifted without stopping.
